Reaccreditation
Means a renewed accreditation for an ongoing program that has had continuous delivery.
Recent graduate
Means a person applying for registration for the first time whose qualification for registration was awarded not more than two years prior to the date of their application.
Recognition of prior learning
Assessment process for the students formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which they have achieved required learning outcomes, competency outcomes or standards for entry to and/or partial or total completion of a qualification.
Reference number
Skills assessment applicants can locate their assessment reference number in correspondence emailed to you and on your tax receipt. This number is used to verify applicant identity.
Registered nurse (RN)
Protected title for a person who has completed the prescribed education preparation, demonstrates competence to practise and is registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law as a RN in Australia.
Registered nurse standards for practice
Are the expectations of registered nurse practice. They inform the education standards for registered nurses, the regulation of nurses and determination of the nurse’s capability for practice, and guide consumers, employers and other stakeholders on what to reasonably expect from a registered nurse regardless of the area of nursing practice or years of nursing experience.
Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
A training provider registered by ASQA (or, in some cases a state regulator such as the Training Accreditation Council Western Australia or the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority) to deliver vocational education and training (VET) services.
Registration expiry date
Date when a practitioner’s current registration expires. Practitioners must apply to renew their registration annually. If the practitioner's name appears on the register, they are registered and can practise within the scope of their registration and consistent with any conditions or undertakings that apply. Under the National Law, registrants who apply to renew on time are able to practise while their annual renewal application is being processed.
Research
Creation of new knowledge and/or the use of existing knowledge in a new and creative way so as to generate new concepts, methodologies and understandings. This could include synthesis and analysis of previous research to the extent that it leads to new and creative outcomes. Consistent with a broad notion of research and experimental development comprising of creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humanity, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications. This definition encompasses pure and strategic basic research, applied research and experimental development.
Risk assessment
Risk assessment applies a set of risk determinants and measurable indicators to all nursing and midwifery education programs. It is based on the principles of ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management Standard.
