Program monitoring begins at the approval of a program by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Monitoring concludes when the program ends and transition or teach-out arrangements are completed, or when the program is discontinued.
As part of program monitoring, all providers of approved programs of study must undergo routine monitoring and submit a Program Monitoring Report (PMR) annually. This report demonstrates how the program continues to meet the accreditation standards and reports on changes that do not require advance notification (prospective reporting).
The PMR is due on the anniversary of the program's approval date by the NMBA. ANMAC will email you the PMR template to fill out a month before this date.
Some education providers will need to provide additional evidence, this includes education providers who are:
- Undergoing targeted monitoring
- Have accreditation conditions applied to their approved program
The Outcome of Assessment letter received from ANMAC after program accreditation outlines the monitoring requirements, including routine monitoring, targeted monitoring, accreditation conditions, and reporting of program changes, including prospective reporting.
Routine monitoring
This monitoring is completed annually by all programs of study.
If the letter indicates routine monitoring applies to your program:
- Fill out the PMR template provided, and return it by the anniversary of the program's approval date by the NMBA.
- Monitor your email for requests for supporting evidence and submit this evidence by the specified due date.
After assessing the report and making a decision, ANMAC will email the outcome. This email will also include information about:
- Accreditation conditions
- Monitoring
- Making program changes
Targeted monitoring
Targeted monitoring applies when there is a specific concern related to a program or education provider. This requires the submission of evidence against standards criteria as part of the monitoring process.
If the letter indicates targeted monitoring and accreditation conditions apply to your program:
- Review the Outcome of Accreditation Assessment letter. It will outline the requirements for:
- The narrative and/or supporting evidence needed
- The specified criteria this evidence must relate to
- The due date for submission
- Monitor email for any requests for additional evidence and ensure submission by the specified due date.
Upon assessing your report and making a decision, ANMAC will email the outcome. This email will also include information about:
- Accreditation conditions
- Monitoring
- Making program changes
Ad Hoc Monitoring
Targeted monitoring is conducted on an ad hoc basis due to an immediate concern that the program is not meeting accreditation standards.
Ad hoc monitoring is applied after there has been an investigation. Communication will be maintained via phone and/or email throughout this process and ensures the necessary steps to demonstrate that the program continues to meet the required standards.
