Roles of ANMAC Accreditation Assessors

ANMAC Accreditation assessors are part of a team that evaluates nursing and midwifery programs and education providers to ensure compliance with ANMAC’s accreditation standards.

The assessment team includes:

  • An ANMAC Associate Director
  • Two assessors with academic and/or educational expertise
  • One assessor with relevant clinical practice experience

Program assessments generally span from 9 to 12 months.

Site visit meeting – travel to the EP, take part in meetings and review program resources Usually more than 1 day, depending on travel needs and number of campuses  
Site Visit Report – review and comment on feedback to be sent to the EP Approximately 1 hour Up to 5 working days
Post-site visit evidence assessment – assess EP’s submitted evidence Approximately 1 hour, depending on quantity and quality of evidence Up to 5 working days
Outcome of Accreditation Assessment Report – review and comment on recommended assessment outcomes to be sent to EP and Accreditation Committee Less than 1 hour Up to 2 working days

Team self-evaluation survey - sent after final decision by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Less than 1 hour  

To become an ANMAC Accreditation assessor, candidates are required to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in nursing and/or midwifery
  • Current registration as a registered nurse and/or midwife without any conduct-related conditions.

ANMAC seeks academics and clinicians who have experience in:

  • Curriculum development
  • Evaluation of education programs
  • Academic/clinical supervision of nursing or midwifery students

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are welcomed from:

  • Nurse or midwife academics or teachers from tertiary or vocational education settings with relevant experience
  • Senior nurse or midwife clinicians or educators with relevant experience

Assessor roles are voluntary, with compensation provided for participation in an assessment team. This compensation aims to offset the time spent on site visits and participating in teleconferences.

Costs related to the site visit, including meals, parking, and taxi fares, will be covered. An Expense Claim Form will be provided prior to the visit. Please retain relevant receipts and documents, such as odometer readings.
