After you apply and upload your documents, your application enter the queue for assessment. The current wait time for assessment is approximately 5-7 weeks.
What ANMAC Does After You Apply
After you submit your application in the Skilled Migrant Application Portal, ANMAC will:
- Review your application form and supporting documentation.
- Contact education providers and/or employers to verify your information.
- Check your application to make sure you meet the assessment criteria.
- Email you if additional information is required.
What You Can Do After You Start a New Application
Please make sure you provide us with all your documents within 12 months of starting your application. If you do not do this, your application will expire.
You can use the Skilled Migrant Application portal to:
- View the status of your application.
- Monitor the progress of each stem in the assessment process.
- Verify that your documents have been uploaded correctly.
Please check your application status in the portal before emailing or calling ANMAC for an update.
If You Meet the Assessment Criteria
If you meet the assessment criteria, you will be deemed suitable for skilled migration.
ANMAC will send you an electronic Outcome Letter confirming that you have the skills for the ANZSCO code you nominated.
Note: This letter can be used for your visa application, but ANMAC cannot guarantee that you will receive the visa.
If You Do Not Meet the Assessment Criteria
- You will be determined as unsuitable for skilled migration as a nurse, midwife, or health care worker.
- ANMAC will send you an explanation email of the assessment outcome.
- You can re-apply for a new assessment after 2 years.

Receiving Your Outcome Letter
ANMAC will send you an electronic copy of your Outcome Letter via email. This letter will be valid for a 2 years from the issue date.
