Steps to apply

Note:We assess your skillsusing documents. We don't assess your skills in a face-to-face test.Make sure your application is processed quickly

Follow these steps to apply for full skills assessment

You will need to provide us with:

  • proof of identity documents and a recent passport-quality photo
  • proof of education documents
  • proof of work experience documents
  • a migration agent declaration document (if you have an agent)
  • an ANZSCO code for your assessment
  • payment for your assessment ($340).

It’s important that you send:

  • high quality scans or photos of your documents
  • photos that meet the passport-photo quality requirements.

This will help to ensure your assessment is not delayed-we cannot complete your assessment using low quality documents

Graduation certificates and transcripts for all nursing qualifications in Australia and overseas(transcripts need to show commencement and completion dates)

Proof of work experience  

Professional references for your work experience as a paid nurse or midwife. 

If applicable

If you are an agency nurse, you will need to provide: 

  • a professional reference written by a nurse who has supervised you in your 
  • role a service statement from your employer detailing dates and hours of employment. an agency-issued professional reference letter, co-signed by (an agency representative and) a nursing supervisor. 
  • The reference needs to include your supervisors role and their Ahpra number.

Upload high-quality scan or photo that matches professional reference example

Proof of registration

Registration from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA/Ahpra) or Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) or Midwifery Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

Overseas professional registration documents.

Migration agent declaration

Registration from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA/Ahpra) or Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) or Midwifery Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

Overseas professional registration documents can be emailed to verification@anmac.org.au.  
If email is not available, your relevant authority can post your registration document to:

Before you upload your documents, make sure they meet our quality requirements.

After you have your documents ready, and made sure the document quality meets our requirements, you can start your application in the Skills assessment portal. 

 

To upload the documents for your assessment, you need to:

  1. Register a new account. New applications will need a new account and email address. 
  2. Complete the online form. Check the how-to video for a tutorial. 
  3. Pay the fees with a credit card. Do not log out before your payment is processed. 
  4. Check your email for your reference number, and confirmation of your application and payment. Contact us if you do not see it within 24 hours.

After you have your documents ready, and checked they meet our quality requirements, you can upload them to the Skills assessment portal.

Note: Your documents need to be uploaded within one month of registering a new account. 

To upload your documents:

  1. Log into your account. 
  2. Upload your documents. Check the how-to video for a tutorial
  3. Save your application. 
  4. Check your email for confirmation that your application has been submitted and your reference number.

After you submit your application:

  • Check your email for any assessment updates. You may not hear from us for a couple of months. See current wait times. We will send you an email if we need any documents or information. 
  • Check the application status by logging into the Skills assessment portal.

If your professional references lack the details needed for your nominated ANZSCO code, we will send you an email explaining why. 

After we process your application, we will send an email with your Letter of Determination which is valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
