In Memoriam | Dr Sally Goold OAM
The Board and staff of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) extend our condolences on the passing of Dr Sally Goold OAM - a proud Wiradjuri woman, trailblazer in First Nations nursing, matriarch of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leadership, and tireless advocate for health equity.
Sally was the first Aboriginal student nurse to train at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, overcoming significant barriers to become the first Aboriginal Registered Nurse in New South Wales.
Reconciliation Week 2025: Bridging Now to Next
Reconciliation Week 2025: Bridging Now to Next
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how we can each contribute to reconciliation.
The dates commemorate two significant milestones, the 1967 Referendum and the 1992 Mabo decision and remind us that reconciliation is not a one-off moment, but a collective journey of truth-telling, healing and meaningful action.
This year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, speaks to the importance of honouring the past while shaping a future built on respect, equity and justice.
