You need to include an ANZSCO code when you complete your application in the Skills assessment portal.

This code will decide which area of nursing or midwifery you can use on your visa application. The code you select will need to match your work experience.

Note: ANMAC is not allowed to give you any advice about which code is best for your visa.

Understanding ANZSCO codes

If you're not sure which ANZSCO code to choose, visit:

If you need more help, please contact the Department of Home Affairs or a registered Migration Agent.

You can:

  • pick a code that is supported by your work experience
  • pick a general code if you do not have work experience.

You can not:

  • pick a code that does not match your work experience
  • pick a code because you want to work in a specific area
  • pick a code only because it supports your visa application.

If you have work experience

Choose a specific ANZSCO code, and provide professional reference documents that show:

  • 3 months and 260 hours (or more) of paid work experience (within the last 5 years) that matches your code
  • accurate information about your clinical skills and competencies in your area of work.

After you select your code and upload supporting references in the Skills Assessment portal we will:

  • check your references and work experience and make sure it matches the code you chose
  • include an ANZSCO code that matches your education and work experience on your Letter of Determination.

Note: If you choose a code which does not match your experience we will need to contact you and it may delay your application.
