If you are applying for a visa under the General Skilled Migration program and need to demonstrate sufficient nursing, midwifery or health care qualifications, it is necessary to apply for a skills assessment. The documents provided will be used to assess your skills. Assessments are not conducted face-to-face.

Apply for a skills assessment with ANMAC if you:

  • Are migrating to Australia under the General Skilled Migration program (as a nurse, midwife or health care worker)
  • Have checked that your visa requirements include a skills assessment.

If you need information about your visa requirements, please contact the Department of Home Affairs

ANMAC does not: 

  • Find employment for nurses, midwives or other health care workers.
  • Provide information or advice on employment, including where or how to find work.
  • Provide information on employer sponsorship.

You will need to contact employers and employment agencies to ontain information about employment opportunities or sponsorship.

Nursing or Midwifery Registration

ANMAC does not conduct registration assessments for nurses or midwives

To work in Australia as a nurse or midwife you need to be registered and hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA/Ahpra). For registration, please contact the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

Please note that ANMAC does not provide visa advice, and cannot advise which ANZSCO code to nominate for visa purposes.
