ANMAC Reappoints Professor Roianne West as Chair

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) is delighted to announce the reappointment of Professor Roianne West as Chair and Professor Joanne Gray as Deputy Chair, reaffirming their commitment to leading the organisation’s vision.  

 

Professor Roianne West – Chair 

Professor West, a proud Kalkadunga and Djkunde woman, brings over 25 years of expertise in Aboriginal health nursing and midwifery, including 15 years in senior leadership roles across local, state, and national levels. As the Founder and CEO of First Nations Nursing and Midwifery Consulting, she is dedicated to increasing the representation of Aboriginal nurses nationally, a focus of her PhD research. Recognised as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Professor West’s impact on learning and teaching in higher education is widely acknowledged. 

Professor Joanne Gray – Deputy Chair 

Professor Gray is a highly esteemed midwifery academic with deep expertise in midwifery education and curriculum development. Currently serving as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), she has pioneered key midwifery programs, including the first distance midwifery program for Registered Nurses at Charles Sturt University in 1990 and the inaugural Bachelor of Midwifery in New South Wales at UTS in 2005. Professor Gray’s leadership roles include Chair of the UTS Academic Board (2015–2020), Chair of ANMAC’s Midwifery Accreditation Committee, and President of the Australian College of Midwives (2020–2023).
